Preview - Kevin speaks at last: Ghost in the Wires: My Adventures as the World's Most Wanted Hacker

Posted on by Ben Rothke

After being arrested over 16 years ago, the world finally gets to hear Kevin Mitnick’s side of the story. His first-person account comes out today in Ghost in the Wires: My Adventures as the World's Most Wanted Hacker.

I looked at a draft copy of the book some months ago and it is definitely not the book most people would expect.

The book paints a radically different picture of the Mitnick that most people have known via John Markoff.

It also shows a very different portrait of Mitnick than the one inaccurately portrayed Track Down, one of the worst movies ever made.

Mitnick speaks honestly about the early family struggles he had to deal with, and how he used hacking as a coping mechanism.

From my initial perusal of the draft of Ghost in the Wires: My Adventures as the World's Most Wanted Hacker is a fascinating read.

Full review to follow, shortly….
